Hi, I’m Emily!
I’m building a simpler, more peaceful life after 50 — one brave step at a time.
My life today looks very different from the one I once expected. Over the past several years, I’ve downsized dramatically, lived and traveled full-time in a tiny camper with my dog, Flynn, let go of possessions and plans that no longer fit, and slowly rebuilt a life around what matters most to me now: faith, peace, freedom, meaningful relationships, and simplicity.
Along the way, I’ve learned that starting over doesn’t always happen because of one dramatic event. Sometimes life changes because of loss. Sometimes it’s divorce, grief, caregiving, financial pressure, a job change, or simply realizing that the life you’re living no longer feels right.
And sometimes you just reach a point where you want something different.
Why I’m Here
This space is for women over 50 who are figuring out what comes next.
You may be rebuilding after something difficult. You may be simplifying because you’re tired of carrying too much. You may want more peace, more freedom, stronger faith, or a life that finally feels like your own.
You do not have to have the whole plan figured out.
That’s something I’ve had to learn myself.
For years, I lived on the road in a tiny cargo trailer, traveling across the country with Flynn and visiting people I love. Eventually, I realized I wanted a home base too — somewhere peaceful I could return to while still keeping the freedom I had worked so hard to create.
I didn’t know exactly what that would look like when I started.
I just kept taking the next step.
What Starting Over Has Taught Me
Starting over has taught me that courage is rarely one huge decision.
More often, it looks like making one phone call, letting go of one thing, asking one question, changing one habit, taking one trip, trusting God through one difficult season, or finally admitting that something in your life needs to change.
It has also taught me that peace does not mean nothing goes wrong.
Life still gets messy. Plans change. Money gets tight. Things break. Loss happens. Fear shows up.
But I’ve learned that you can face those things without allowing them to define your entire life.
For me, faith has been a huge part of that. I believe God can guide us with wisdom, peace, strength, and clarity even when we cannot see the whole road ahead.
What You’ll Find Here
On this blog and on my YouTube channel, I share what I’m learning as I continue building this next chapter of my life.
You’ll find stories and practical ideas around starting over after 50, faith and peaceful living, simplifying and downsizing, intentional finances, tiny living, travel, creating a home base, and learning to make decisions with more courage and less fear.
Flynn is still very much part of the journey too.
He has been beside me through years of travel, change, uncertainty, adventure, and rebuilding — and life is simply better with a good dog nearby.
You Don’t Need the Whole Road
If there is one thing I hope you take away from being here, it’s this:
You do not have to figure out your entire life before you begin changing it.
You can start small.
You can change your mind.
You can redefine what success means to you.
You can want a simpler life.
You can want more peace.
You can want to travel, stay home, build something new, let something go, reconnect with your faith, or finally do something you’ve been putting off for years.
And yes, you can still change your life after 50.
That is what I’m doing too.
So grab a cup of coffee, stay awhile, and join me as I keep figuring this out — with faith, simplicity, courage, and one brave step at a time.
